The AI text generator, ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, has gained widespread recognition for its ability to produce text that is indistinguishable from human writing. As a result, teachers at both secondary schools and colleges are facing challenges in dealing with its use by students for completing assignments.

To address this issue, our Dutch 🇳🇱 ChatGPT Detector has been developed and is now being used by educators to gain a better understanding of the extent to which students are using ChatGPT. Similar to online plagiarism scanners, the detector is now also being used preventively by students. Moving forward, we will be collaborating with universities of applied sciences to further refine and validate the detector.
